House Passes Bill with 'Alternate Carriage' Clause
On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the House of Representatives passed a compromise version of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. That legislation contains, in its very last section (Sec. 8404), the provision extending consumers' "right to alternate carriage" in the event of an airline bankruptcy through Nov.19, 2005. The Senate is expected to vote favorably on the legislation this afternoon, and the president has indicated he will sign it. More details to follow as they develop.
