Korean Air expands with Northwest

Korean Air announced it will expand its code-share relationship with Northwest, benefiting customers traveling on seven international routes operated by Korean Air and six US domestic routes operated by Northwest effective December 9th.

The new code-share flights will expand the global networks of both carriers by opening up hundreds of new travel options for customers. Routes operated by Northwest that are code-shared with Korean Air are Detroit-Chicago, Memphis-Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul-Chicago, Las Vegas-Los Angeles, Detroit-Seattle, and Minneapolis/St. Paul-Seattle.

Routes operated by Korean Air that are code-shared with Northwest are between Seoul-Seattle, Seoul-Chicago, Seoul-Tokyo, Seoul-Osaka, Tokyo-Los Angeles, Busan-Tokyo, and Busan-Osaka.

“We fly from more gateways in North America to Asia than any other airline. With the added code-share routes, Korean Air will have code-share operations on 105 routes in the United States. This massive US network, combined with Korean Air’s 13 North American gateways to Asia will offer passengers unprecedented ease in US-Asia travel,” said John Jackson, Korean Air’s North American marketing chief.

Korean Air currently has code-share relationships with 22 international carriers and plans to increase traveler options through increased partnerships with SkyTeam alliance airlines and other international carriers.

“We are pleased to be expanding our existing passenger and cargo cooperation with Korean Air with these new routes. These further links between Northwest’s extensive domestic and Pacific network and Korean Air’s core Pacific strength enable us to offer a worldwide seamless travel experience to our customers,” said Nathaniel Pieper, Northwest’s vice president – alliances.

Members of Korean Air’s Skypass and Northwest’s WorldPerks frequent flyer programs will continue to receive accrual and redemption benefits on flights operated by both airlines.
