This is the first ski season that coach-class fliers on most airlines will have to contend with luggage fees for any bag they check on domestic flights. Earlier this year, airlines including American, Continental, Frontier, Northwest, United and US Airways began charging coach passengers $15 to check the first bag one way on top of $25 for a second bag when flying within the United States. Last month, Delta, which had been a holdout among major airlines in charging a first-bag fee, followed suit as part of its merger with Northwest.
